Lupus Awareness Month 2025
Lupus Awareness Month 2025 Campaign
Providing Hope, Raising Awareness, Inspiring Change
Lupus impacts thousands of Canadians, meaning its diverse presentation makes it challenging to both diagnose and treat. There is no existing singular or definitive lupus test, and many Canadian patients report significant delays, often waiting months or years—not only for a diagnosis but also for access to effective management of this complex disease.
Lupus can impact anyORGAN, in anyPERSON, at anyTIME whereby the immune system attacks healthy cells and tissues in the body leading to a wide spectrum of symptoms. Like putting the pieces of a puzzle together, diagnosing lupus can be challenging due to its diverse symptoms. Symptoms – appearing primarily between 15 and 44 years of age – can be complex and difficult to diagnose, resulting in the nickname: the disease of 1000 faces. Unfortunately, lupus often results in long term, and irreversible, organ damage. The cause remains unknown and a cure does not exist.
At Lupus Canada, we are dedicated to improving the lives of individuals impacted by lupus through research, education, support, and advocacy. As the only national organization focused solely on lupus, we are steadfast in our mission: a life without lupus.
The lupus treatment pipeline is an area of immense promise and hope. While progress takes time, each advancement brings us closer to expanding treatment options for those living with lupus. With your support we are optimistic that in the coming years that we will be able to celebrate the availability of additional new therapies in the Canadian market.
