LUPUS AWARENESS MONTH EVENTS & HIGHLIGHTS

Join Us in Raising Lupus Awareness Nationwide

May is Lupus Awareness Month in Canada, and Lupus Canada is proud to highlight a series of national events, educational campaigns, and meaningful collaborations that shine a light on the realities of living with lupus. From illuminating landmarks and classroom initiatives to national awards and patient-centered collaborations, each event is designed to build awareness, foster community, and support advocacy for those affected by lupus.

Classrooms For A Cause

Inspire Awareness Through Creativity!

Join classrooms across Canada in raising lupus awareness through art and education! Classrooms for a Cause engages students in meaningful discussions about lupus while encouraging creativity by designing symbolic butterflies. Plus, participating classrooms will be entered into a draw for a chance to win a Scholastic Canada Classroom wish list prize!

Canada Illuminates in Purple for Lupus Awareness

Cities across Canada will light up purple this May in recognition of Lupus Awareness Month. From coast to coast, iconic landmarks will glow in solidarity with the 1 in 1000 Canadians living with lupus.

Check our illumination schedule to see if your city is participating and help spread awareness in your community. If you see a landmark illuminated in purple, take a photo, share it on social media, and tag @LupusCanada to join the movement.

Would you like to help light up your city? Lupus Canada has created a template letter that makes it easy to contact your MP, Mayor, or city officials. To get involved, email Ariana Ranjbar, National Digital Marketing Specialist for Lupus Canada, to request a copy of the letter. Let’s light up Canada for lupus awareness.

Please note: Every effort will be made to honour the scheduled illuminations. However, landmark management teams may adjust lighting plans without notice, including changes to the date, timing, or sharing the illumination with another cause.

LUPUS 2025 International Congress banner featuring the Lupus Canada logo

Spotlighting Global Innovation at LUPUS 2025 – 16th International Congress on Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Gateway to the Future

This Lupus Awareness Month, Lupus Canada is thrilled to be on the ground at LUPUS 2025 in Toronto, a world-class congress bringing together global leaders in lupus research, treatment, and care.

Throughout the event, our team will be conducting exclusive on-site interviews with international investigators in the lupus space and speaking with patients to capture diverse stories and lived experiences. You’ll also find Lupus Canada in the exhibition hall, connecting with researchers, advocates, and organizations committed to advancing lupus care.

We’re honoured to take part in such a pivotal event. As we look to the future of lupus, we’re excited to learn, to listen, and to share the momentum of what’s ahead.

Stay tuned—we’ll be sharing interviews, insights, and event highlights all month long.
