LETTER FROM EDITOR
Welcome Change
By Charlene Johnson
In recent months, Get in the Loop has undergone changes to become more user-friendly to its readers. The first change was our new notification system that advises readers as soon as the newsletter is available online.
We are always looking to make the newsletter even better to be a valuable resource to as many young people as possible. In recent weeks, I publicized the co-editor position. Four of our members have expressed interest, a fine example that our readers do see the importance of this publication. This does, however, leave our writing committee with the task of choosing one person among these four talented candidates. We have thus decided to allow each of them to ‘test the waters’ for one issue before making a final decision.
Congratulations and good luck to Tyla Teelucksingh, Melissa Alexander, Florence Tewogbade and Christina Yau. We hope that regardless of the decision, they will all choose to remain a part of the Get in the Loop team.
Of course, everyone’s comments and suggestions in this process are appreciated. Send us an email at getintheloop@gmail.com to let us know what you think.
In this issue, our new Healthy Eating editor, Jen Huska, provides us with some great recipes for the BBQ. She also opens us to the idea of alternative ways to de-stress. Her article Making Scents of Aromatherapy discusses how scented oils can be used to uplift the senses.
We also get an idea of what it’s like to be a male with lupus, as Chaudry Semalulu shares with us his male perspective of living with lupus. We hope you enjoy the newsletter and provide us feedback on the changes we are making. We feel it all helps us in keeping with our mission to inspire our young readers to live well with lupus.
